Shearwater Cloud export: save your dives as UDDF
Shearwater Cloud can save your dives as UDDF, an open exchange format for dive logs. One export and one import move them anywhere that reads it.

What Shearwater says
Shearwater says Shearwater Cloud can export dives as UDDF (or XML). Its help pages do not spell out the menu steps, so the steps below follow the desktop app's File menu as divers describe it, and names may differ in your version.

Exporting
- Open Shearwater Cloud on your computer and let it finish syncing, so every dive is on that machine.
- In the list of dives, select the ones to move: click the first, then hold Shift and click the last to take everything in between.
- Open the File menu, choose to export, and pick UDDF as the format.
- Save the .uddf file somewhere you will find it again.
If you have moved to Dive Shearwater, Shearwater's newer phone app, dives logged there after the move do not appear in Shearwater Cloud and will not be in this file. Export from each app separately.
What UDDF is
UDDF, the Universal Dive Data Format, is a plain text format that many logbook programs read and write. It can hold dive sites, dates and times, depth, length, the gases and the depth profile. Because it is open, a UDDF file keeps working when the program that made it does not.
Bringing the file into a logbook
Loggerfish reads UDDF as it is. Importing needs no account, because the file is read on your own device. Open the import, choose the .uddf file and read the preview: it counts the dives that are new, the ones already in your log and the ones that differ, and lists each dive. A dive the file holds too little for, such as one with no date, is not imported, and the preview lists it with the reason.
Afterwards you can export again as Excel, UDDF or a full backup, free on every plan. The Shearwater step-by-step guide shows the import with screenshots.
One honest note
On iPhone, with Pro, Loggerfish downloads over Bluetooth from the Shearwater Peregrine TX. For every other Shearwater computer it reads the file you export from Shearwater's own software, so keep Shearwater Cloud for getting those dives off the computer.
