Terms of Service
Last updated: 23 September 2026
1. Who we are and what this covers
Loggerfish is a dive logbook and analytics service offered by Felix Rief, trading as Rief Digital Apps (Einzelunternehmen), Herbert-Weichmann-Straße 8, 22085 Hamburg, Germany, support@loggerfish.com ("we"). These terms apply when you create an account or use the website or apps ("the service"). Our full company details are in the legal notice.
2. Your account
You must be 16 or older. Keep your sign-in details safe. One person per account. Tell us if you think someone else has access.
3. Your data
Your log is yours. You grant us only the permission we need to store, process and show it back to you and to run the service (including backups). You can export it at any time and delete your account in the app. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal data.
4. Not a dive-planning or safety tool
Loggerfish records and analyses dives you have already done. Figures such as SAC rate, forecasts or any calculated value are for interest and record-keeping. They are not decompression, gas-planning or safety information. Never use Loggerfish to plan or conduct a dive. Follow your training, your dive computer and your agency's rules.
5. Free and Pro plans
The Free plan is described on our pricing page, and has no limit on the number of dives. Prices include VAT where it applies:
| Price | What it is | |
|---|---|---|
| Pro monthly | €4.90 per month | renews until cancelled |
| Pro yearly | €29 per year | renews until cancelled |
| Pro lifetime | €99 once | a one-off purchase, limited to the first 500, that never renews and is never charged again |
| Duo | €6.90 per month or €45 per year | one subscription covering two accounts |
| A gifted year | €29 once | a code giving somebody else twelve months of Pro |
There is also a 14-day trial of everything in Pro on signup, which costs nothing, needs no card and ends by itself. A 25% discount is available to dive professionals on their own statement.
Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. We may change the price for future periods, and will tell you by email at least 30 days beforehand; you can cancel before the new price applies, and a lifetime licence is never affected by a later price change.
- Web subscriptions: cancel any time with the cancellation button in your account settings; you keep Pro until the end of the paid period.
- Apple and Google purchases: a subscription bought inside the iPhone or Android app is billed through your Apple or Google account, cancelled in that device's own settings, and refunded by Apple or Google, not by us. We are told only that it is active.
- The lifetime licence is a single payment, not a subscription: there is nothing to renew and nothing to cancel.
- The duo plan is paid by one person and covers two accounts. The payer may end the subscription; either account may leave it at any time, and an account that leaves or is removed returns to the Free plan at the end of the paid period. Neither account can see the other's logbook.
- Gift codes are valid for twelve months from purchase and add twelve months of Pro to the account that redeems them. An unredeemed code can be refunded within that period; a redeemed one cannot.
- If we withdraw a Pro feature you were using and do not replace it with something equivalent, you may cancel and we will refund the unused part of the period you have paid for.
6. Right of withdrawal for consumers
You have 14 days to withdraw from a new subscription or a one-off purchase, without giving a reason. The app has a withdrawal button of its own, in your account settings, separate from cancelling — it takes two steps, and we confirm your withdrawal by email as the law requires.
We refund the whole amount, not a part of it. We do not deduct anything for the days you have already used, and we do not ask you to waive the right of withdrawal in order to start using Pro straight away. This is more than § 357 BGB requires of us, and it is what the app actually does.
If you withdraw during the free trial, nothing has been charged, so there is nothing to refund — your Pro access simply ends and no payment is ever taken.
For purchases made inside the iPhone or Android app, Apple or Google holds the money and only they can give it back; we record your withdrawal, end the Pro access we control, and tell you where to ask.
The statutory instruction below is given in German, which is the language it is binding in.

7. Acceptable use
Do not attack or overload the service, access other people's data, resell it, or use it to break the law.
8. Reviews you publish
You can rate dive sites and write reviews. These are public: anyone can read them, with the name you choose to show. Your log itself stays private.
- What you may write. Your own experience of the site and the diving there. Do not include links, advertising, other people's personal details, or anything unlawful, abusive or misleading.
- Your rights. You keep the rights to what you write. You allow us to show it in Loggerfish and on our website for as long as it is published, free of charge, and to shorten or translate its presentation (never its meaning).
- Removing it. You can edit or delete your review at any time. Deleting your account deletes all your reviews.
- Reports and moderation. Anyone signed in can report a review. A review reported by three different people is hidden until we have looked at it. We may hide or remove reviews that break these rules, and stop an account from writing reviews if it keeps doing so.
- When we do, we tell you why. You get a statement of reasons naming the rule applied, whether a report or our own check prompted it, and whether it was decided by a person or automatically, as Art. 17 of the EU Digital Services Act requires. You can reply to that message to have the decision looked at again by a person, within six months. This does not affect your right to go to court, or to an out-of-court dispute settlement body certified under Art. 21 of that Regulation.
- No endorsement. Reviews are the opinion of their authors, not ours. They are not a safety assessment of a site: always follow local guidance and your training.
9. Availability and changes
We work to keep the service available but do not promise uninterrupted access. We may change features; we will give notice of significant changes that affect what you have paid for.
If we ever have to close the service, we will say so at least three months in advance, stop selling subscriptions and lifetime licences immediately, and keep the export working for the whole of that period. Your logbook does not depend on us being here: it is stored on your device as well as in your account, the app keeps working offline, and everything in it can be exported at any time as an Excel file, as UDDF — the format other dive logbooks read — or as a full backup. A lifetime licence bought within the twelve months before such an announcement is refunded in full.
10. Liability
We are liable without limit for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body or health, and where the law requires it (including under the Product Liability Act). For slight negligence we are liable only for breach of a material contractual duty — one whose fulfilment makes performing the contract possible at all and on which you may rely — and then only for foreseeable, typical damage. We are not liable for decisions you take based on calculated figures (see section 4).
11. Ending the contract
You can stop using the service or delete your account at any time. We may end an account for serious breach of these terms, with notice where reasonable.
12. Law and disputes
German law applies, except that mandatory consumer protections of the country you live in remain. We are neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
